APPLICATION FOR THE 2008 LAKE RIDGE LIONS CLUB MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

Completed applications should be received by the Scholarship Committee of the Lake Ridge Lions Club by April 15, 2008.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Selection is expected to be made by May 1, or soon thereafter.  All applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision.

3.  Attach a copy of your acceptance letter to the post secondary institution to be attended.

 

4.  Attach 2 written statements from different people documenting your service to the community and describing why you should be considered for receipt of this scholarship.  These statements should be provided by responsible adults who are not related to you.

 

5.  The Lions are an international organization devoted to community service.  Lions have been especially concerned with providing assistance to the sight and hearing impaired and to those with diabetes.  However, all types of community service projects are undertaken, as evidenced by our motto:  WE SERVE.  Please provide a 200 word essay describing why community service is an important aspect of your life.

 

6.  Attach a letter from your guidance counselor indicating your academic achievement while in high school.  

 

7.  Describe the extent of your participation in community service activities and organizations while in high school.

 

8.  If you feel that the financial hardships of post secondary education should be a special consideration in your specific circumstances, please explain and provide appropriate documentation.  Such documentation could include a copy of the Free Application for federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or such other information as is necessary to describe your circumstances.  All such information will be kept confidential by the Scholarship Committee.

 

9.  To be considered for the Lake Ridge Lions Club Memorial Scholarship, the completed application must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than April 15, 2008.  Applications should be mailed to :
